Reach

Implemented since 2013, this scholarship program’s objective is to motivate students who are in 9th grade (the last year of middle school in Mexico) to enroll and stay in high school. Students in Los Altos who attend telesecundarias come from small and indigenous communities that have the highest poverty rate in the country and some of the lowest rates of enrollment in high school and highest dropout rates for students in high school. Scholarships are delivered directly to students on a cash card before each semester begins to support the poorest students in meeting the costs of enrolling and then starting each semester. REACH is generally the only educational support offered before students begin school and on a defined schedule.
