We have more than 20 years creating synergies with We have more than 20 years creating synergies with local governments and communities to build dignified and safe schools for the students of the Highlands of #Chiapas.Last year we built a classroom in Yaltem; a community located in the municipality of Chamula. The former classrooms at Yaltem's high school were made of wood and metallic plates. The cold from the mountains permeated and students preferred not to go to school due to the extreme weather conditions. Before building the classrooms, only half of the students graduating from middle school stayed in Yaltem's high school: some students preferred to walk long distances to attend a different high school with better conditions to study. Others decided to drop out to work full-time in the fields and support their families.Despite the precarious conditions for learning, many students travel long distances to attend school. 60% of the students came from 8 different neighboring communities. The school would attract even more students, but poor physical infrastructure hindered enrollment. After the construction, the school enrollment increased in attendance by 21.6%; teachers can carry out activities and students enjoy a safe and dignified space to study. Meet the students who participated in EMPRENDE 202 Meet the students who participated in EMPRENDE 2022. Handicrafts, organic products, backyard poultry, food, and decoration, have been some of the ideas that these young entrepreneurs have managed through this semester.EMPRENDE provides indigenous youth with the tools to create and make their own businesses profitable.State context indicates that the most common livelihoods for youth in Chiapas are traditional subsistence farming, construction, and/or informal employment through small businesses with low growth potential. 78% of the labor force is in the informal sector, with no labor protection. In 2022 EMPRENDE worked with more than 30 schools and 800 students. This program has fostered more than 300 entrepreneurial ideas as a means of socioeconomic development in their communities. You can give the opportunity for a better future to the indigenous youth, and support more students in 2023. Today we celebrate #InternationalEducationDay Ed Today we celebrate #InternationalEducationDay Education not only changes students' lives, but it also fosters peace and development in communities. In #Chiapas from a group of 100 students who start first grade, 68 will finish 9th grade, 35 will graduate from high school and only 8 will graduate from university. The students who do not graduate from high school, do not have access to the same opportunities their high school-educated counterparts have.More years of school are associated with access to better and safer employment, more opportunities in the formal sector, and higher wages. That is why #InternationalEducationDay is dedicated to our students, reminding them that their education is what drives us to continue working. #Education #educationforall #educationmatters #IndigenousYouth #Learning #Mexico #Photography #ActNow #nonprofit #instagood #students #love #study #student #educational #success #motivation
Meet Uriel, he is a student from Los Pozos, Chiapa Meet Uriel, he is a student from Los Pozos, Chiapas; he is one of many beneficiaries of the REACH program. His family has four siblings and he is the youngest. Uriel studies at the high school in his area, his school is surrounded by cornfields."Many may think that money is everything, but it is not. You can have money, but without studies and if you don't have your family close, I don't think it's worth it.I want to study for a degree in accounting. In 5 years I see myself working in a company or accounting firm. I want to give back a little of what my family has given me.Life has not been easy, but it also depends on one's attitude, every day is different, and none is repeated and that depends on each one of us"We are very fortunate to be able to support the talent of the indigenous young of the Highlands of Chiapas. #motivation #Education #educationforall #educationmatters #IndigenousYouth #Learning #Chiapas #Mexico #ActNow #nonprofit #instagood #students #love #study #student #educational #success
